Public Works - Refuse Collection Guidelines
The Refuse Collection Division recognizes the following material(s) as household waste that will be collected with regular collection. The following list is intended to be a reference guideline and is not limited to the following items:

| Food items | Must be drained of surplus liquids, bagged, and securely tied. Deposit bags into refuse cart. |
| Carpeting and padding | Carpet and padding shall be cut into lengths of no more than six (6) feet. Rolls should not exceed 18" in diameter and should be neatly rolled, tied, and stacked for collection with regular household waste. |
| Hypodermic Needles | Place hypodermic needles in a specifically designed sharps container or a rigid container such as a laundry detergent bottle or coffee can before placing in refuse cart. |
| Furniture, mattresses/box springs and small appliances | Place items adjacent to refuse cart. |
| Books, non-recyclable papers and plastic | Deposit in bags and place in refuse cart. |
| Dust, ash and particle matter | Must be containerized in bags, securely tied and deposited in refuse cart. |
| Paint | Paint must be dried out prior to collection. Remove lids from paint cans to allow paint to air dry or mix with an absorbent such as sand or cat litter. Place dry paint cans in or next to refuse cart. |
| Swing sets or outdoor play equipment | Must be dismantled, not to exceed five (5) feet in length. |
| Automobile tires | Contact Public Works in advance to schedule a special pick-up. |
| Wood | Limited to two (2) 8-foot sections per set-out. Each section should not exceed five (5) feet in width. |
| Chain link fencing | Chain-link fencing must be rolled and not exceed (50) pounds per section. Concrete must be removed from posts. |
All waste material must be placed in bags or boxes and be of sufficient strength to hold the materials. Bagged and boxed material must not exceed 40 pounds. Homeowners should contact Public Works for proper disposal of large and bulky items. Homeowners are encouraged to donate usable items to local charities.
